The Opportunity:

This role will offer the right candidate the potential to move to a full time position in due course. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure within a large, fast paced business where every day is different. You will gain exposure across the whole organisation and be given the opportunity to lead on projects.

Day to day:
  • To provide timely, risk informed and commercially relevant legal advice to the Generation business unit on contractual, corporate, statutory and regulatory issues.
  • To work closely with Business Partners within the Generation business to understand their objectives and business drivers and to identify current and future legal requirements.
  • To review, draft and participate in the negotiation of contracts, leading the negotiation process where appropriate.
  • To develop and deliver training courses appropriate for the business and for other solicitors as required.
  • To help monitor and advise on future legislative changes that may impact the business.

The Skills:
  • Qualified solicitor admitted in England and Wales or equivalent. The Generation Legal team would welcome any level of post-qualification experience, from newly qualified lawyers to lawyers with several years' experience.
  • Experience of delivering a pro-active, business focused service that anticipates risks and prevents commercial impacts.
  • Possesses solid, well rounded legal knowledge and drafting skills in commercial and contractual law, with a particular focus on general commercial, corporate and/or projects work.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to a range of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to quickly establish credibility within the business unit.
  • Able to demonstrate both attention to detail and the ability to set pragmatic legal advice in the context of an established, commercial, operational business.
  • Able to work both independently, where appropriate, and under the supervision of a more senior lawyer where required.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and work on several projects concurrently.
  • Flexible approach with a willingness to develop knowledge and skills in different areas of law and to provide support to other teams, as required.
  • Organised and methodical approach.
  • Confident communicator, able to present information to a range of audiences.
