As a Junior Category Manager, you will support the Category Manager in meeting spend and margin budgetary targets outlined as per the agreed category strategy. In the role you will be responsible for supporting through the process of defining and reviewing products while proactively managing in-flight category performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyse trading performance to proactively propose initiatives to support SPH and MPH budgets
Responsible for briefing gategroup procurement on product/service requirements
Defining and Implementing price strategies per airline shop
Implementing promotional strategy per airline shop
Forecasting sales for new SKUs and/or per campaign.
Briefing Global Procurement on supplier tenders process aligning to airline requirements and delivery group scalability
Analyse market trends and competition in the market using BI/CI data and provide recommendations for category development
Attend presentations to key airline departments
New supplier sourcing to provide innovation and category development
Work collaboratively with Retail Centre of Excellence to provide insight to airline account and share SPH improvement strategies

Key Performance Indicators and Targets

Increase in SPH
Increase in profitability

Increased penetration
Strategic direction for gateretail, client and GG stakeholders
Succession planning for managing all business functions in any team absence

Qualifications and Experience:


Educated to degree level

Work Experience:

Relevant experience in a category management or product trading role within retail; preferably in travel, e-commerce or high street retail
proven track record in buying, merchandising or category management gained from working for a large retail business; ideally across multiple categoriesOther Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

Tenacious and determined with a proven track record in driving projects and objectives
PC literate with strong proficiency in MS-Office
Valid UK driving license
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, other European languages would be an advantage
Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, multi-tasking and prioritising as appropriate
