We are representing an industry leading consultancy company, that specialises in the development of break through engineering and electrical proposition systems. They are looking for a Chief Engineer to head up their vehicle systems department and carry out their vision to maximise efficiency and eliminate waste.

The role

This senior level opportunity will require the right person to have in-depth industry knowledge around electrified propulsion technology. They will be required to generate new value propositions related to Electrified Propulsion Systems by supporting the development of roadmaps and driving research activities to develop new product, process and system solutions. Additionally, they will support the business development teams to understand our client's needs and develop new opportunities through generation of technical sales material and client engagements.
Technically they will provide leadership on multi-disciplinary projects taking responsibility for delivery on-time and on-budget. Although this person will not have a direct report, they will need to support the development of Ricardo's engineers by mentoring and providing input, so that the delivery of project activities is maintained.

The requirements
  • A relevant engineering / science degree qualification.
  • 10 years or more in the design and development of propulsion systems (including electrification) in a consultancy, Tier 1 or OEM environment.
  • In-depth design/analysis and development of electrified propulsion systems.
  • Solid knowledge of and confidence in ability and appropriate use of legal and business language, including familiarity with NDAs, IP, proposals and industry standards.
  • Strong strategic and leadership skills, to build and manage project teams to deliver, satisfy customers and achieve targets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills to work across functions and organisations.
  • Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments
