Chess are looking for a creative lead to join our established Marketing team based in Alderley Edge. As Head of Creative, you will guide and collaborate with designers, content creators, marketers and stakeholders to plan, craft and deliver the Chess brand to world class standards. The successful candidate will report into the Group Managing Director and whilst the role is based at our head office, travel will be required on a frequent basis.

Duties to include but not restricted to

Strategy and Leadership
  • Inspire, lead, guide and motivate a brand & creative team (including senior designers, graphic designers, video content producers and communication executives).
  • Conceptualise the creative direction of the brand identity through all imagery, content, and editorial, influencing all areas of the business
  • Responsible for the management of the Chess Media project - producing digital online content to inform, educate, and engage on how technology can solve business problems
  • Translate marketing strategy into visuals to advise senior leadership
  • Work with senior stakeholders and multiple business areas directly on key creative and branding strategies
  • Spearhead the identity and creative direction for all new product areas and business areas
  • Manage design team scrum and sprint process, ensuring processes are adhered to throughout the team and business and that deadlines expectations are managed
  • Manage and mentor the comms and creative team by clearly communicating campaign concepts and directions, customer focus, and design principles

Art Direction
  • Oversee creative direction across all brand assets including print, digital, video, on-line and off-line, ensuring consistency across all touch points and that brand integrity is maintained and built upon
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide guidance and assistance in the creative design process
  • Approve all new campaigns and creative sign-off
  • Management of brand, style, and tone of voice guidelines to ensure high standards of typography, imagery and content are maintained across multiple marketing channels

  • Design of high-profile pieces and work with senior leadership
  • Presenting design and ideas to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality design assets
  • Oversee all print production and attend press checks, ensuring that signed-off proofs are accurately replicated in print
  • Manage relationship with agencies, printers and photography vendors
  • Create visually and typographically rich designs that fulfil design solution and are in line with current trends
  • Working with Marketing Executive to create dynamic designs for campaigns, with creative vision that meets the clients' objectives

Skills & Qualities you will need to demonstrate:
  • Track record of creative leadership
  • Exceptional knowledge of graphic design, typography and corporate identity
  • Proficient understanding of Adobe Creative suite and Adobe Cloud
  • Proven board level stakeholder management skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of creative experience is essential

Package Details:

Basic salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

Hours: 37½ hours per week Monday to Friday, normal office hours apply.

Holiday Allowance: 30 days paid holiday per annum, plus public holidays.
