Five Education are currently working with an Ofsted rated 'Good' school in Taunton. This school is an all-boys special school that educates students between the ages of 10 & 17. They have a mix of boarding and day students. All students have an EHCP where the primary need is SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs).
This school uses THRIVE and Team Teach, the experience of one or both of these would be an advantage. We are supporting the school in their hiring process as they look for an English Teacher. This role is full time and ongoing.
Responsibilities and duties
  • Leading small classes from KS2 to KS4 in English
  • Being aware of how every aspect of development (including emotional) has an impact on their education
  • Providing support and guidance to Teaching Assistants
  • Differentiating work and allowing all students to access education
  • Developing a relationship with the pupil and their caregivers
  • Working with potential challenging behaviour and/ or other special needs
  • Ensuring work meets the learning needs of the student and that they are challenged
  • Helping students who have changed schools multiple times and missed education to catch up and eventually work at the expected level for their age

Essential Criteria:
  • A flexible and resourceful approach
  • A calm demeanour
  • Excellent behaviour management
  • QTS and recent experience teaching maths
  • Comfortable to teach Maths to KS2 - KS4 pupils
  • At least 12 months of recent experience working in a school
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A valid visa)
  • Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/Police checks
  • A car/ motorbike is necessary due to the location of the school
  • A valid Team Teach certificate isn't essential but would be an advantage
  • Experience of THRIVE isn't essential but would be an advantage

This role has the potential to become permanent if the school and candidate agree.
