We are recruiting for a prestigious national company who are looking for a professional and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join their flexible and supportive team part-time on a permanent basis. This is a secure, rewarding and progressive opportunity within a reputable organisation.

This role is to support the Accountant in the provision of a comprehensive, professional accountancy service, including financial and management accounting, treasury and general ledger maintenance.

Main Duties;
  • To assist in the preparation of the year end accounts.
  • Manage the process of GL closing once handed over from Fin Ops through to the production of accurate reports.
  • To prepare for review CLOS pack for submission to DCMS for inclusion in their consolidated accounts.
  • To maintain the Chart of Accounts in accordance with agreed approvals.
  • To monitor the application of controls in the operation of financial policies for investments and treasury management, fixed assets and other Balance Sheet accounts.
  • To maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset register
  • To manage the bank accounts and help with managing the cash-flow on a day to day basis
  • Compilation and submission of statutory returns
  • To ensure information on Trust Funds is verified and reported to the Board.
  • To assist in ensuring VAT and Corporation Tax compliance, including preparing the annual VAT reclaim percentage.
  • To provide advice to business areas on tax treatment of proposed transactions/contracts etc.
  • To participate in financial process improvement reviews.

Minimum Essential Requirements;
  • Accountancy Qualification - CCAB qualified or part qualified with commitment to completing professional examinations.
  • Knowledge of Government accounting requirements
  • Financial and mathematical acumen
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Accounting Systems
  • Understanding of financial and banking regulations and practices
  • Will have the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels

This is a permanent part-time role and they are open to negotiating your working hours. The successful candidate will benefit from;
