Following a growing demand in project support requirements, the company is currently recruiting for an Engineering Project Manager to join the Subsea Engineering Department. The Engineering Project Manager is an onshore position and plays a key role during both the project preparation and offshore execution phases of the project. You will take ownership of engineering delivery and supervising the assigned engineering personnel.

Roles and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible to the Engineering Manager / Project Manager to coordinate and deliver packages of work for the onshore engineering activities in support of offshore operations;
  • Lead a team of engineering personnel to deliver technically sound methodologies for assigned scopes in close liaison with Project Manager and operational teams;
  • Act as a technical focal point for the project team and Client and prepare / approve engineering deliverables such as reports, calculations and drawings;
  • Provide leadership to the assigned engineering resources to ensure delivery of engineering scopes with a focus on quality and following department procedures, client specifications and relevant standards;
  • Maintain close cooperation with the Project Manager on the scheduling and progress of engineering activities for effective project delivery;
  • Provide support to the project team and Client during project execution;
  • Provide input to tenders in association with the Commercial Department to develop engineering cost budgets, 3rd party requirements and project schedules;
  • Ensure variations to contacts are recognised, tracked and communicated to the Project Manager.

Person specification

  • Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering or Marine related subject OR HNC / HND qualification and relevant work experience;
  • Familiarity with subsea / IRM / ROV / marine operations;
  • Experience in managing teams of multi-disciplined engineers and supervising the production of engineering deliverables;
  • Experience with managing commercial activities related to engineering scopes e.g. proposal input, CTR management, scheduling, subcontractor selection and management;
  • Experience in managing the development and testing of new engineering designs & equipment;
  • Take ownership of project responsibilities;
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Live within commuting distance to Aberdeen;
  • Willingness to travel as and when required including overseas and offshore on ad-hoc basis (if required).

  • Relevant post graduate degree, i.e. MSc in Subsea Engineering or Project Management;
  • Membership of Engineering Institution or working towards Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer registration;
  • Knowledge of decommissioning operations and regulatory requirements.
