Duties will include: * Cutting and drilling steelwork (mild and stainless) * Mig/Tig welding and grinding steelwork (mild and stainless) * Polishing steelwork (stainless) * Manufacturing structural and architectural assemblies * Some tasks may be repetitive * Would probably sit some simple coding tests (fillet, downhand) * All works to be completed as per CAD drawings provided and verbal instruction * All works to be completed as per safety risk assessment with under 18's compliant to specific under 18 assessment * Training shall be provided, where necessary, for forklift and overhead cranes * Yard and workshop duties where request is reasonable i.e. sweeping up, weeding, tidying up yard Paid day release for college, expected to work 5 days during college holidays. Individual will be supervised/mentored depending on risk assessment, their level of experience and ability. Requirements and prospects Desired skills * Reasonable academic ability (reading and understanding of CAD drawings) * Attention todetail * Good interpersonal skills - i.e. need to ask if unsure, listen to their supervisor and show interest in the project * Candidate should ideally have some knowledge/experience in Engineering, or a relatable subject. Personal qualities * Good attendance and timekeeping * Motivated to work accurately and at a reasonable pace Desired qualifications * 5 GCSEs at grades A*-D/9-3, to include English and maths or an equivalent qualifications Future prospects If you complete Level 2 to a high standard and have proven yourself to be reliable then we would likely offer Level 3. You would also likely receive a pay review. On completion of Level 2 or 3 we would then consider whether to offer you a full-time contract and probably another pay review. After that you would likely continue to gain experience and eventually achieve the higher pay grades. Things to consider Would suit someone in the Medway or Swale area as no travel assistance is provided. Non-smoker preferred.
