Our site at Whitstable specialises in the design and manufacture of high-quality precision components for harsh and demanding environments such as Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Marine, Nuclear and Defence.

Poised for further growth and investment, we are now seeking to recruit a Lead Quality Engineer who will help deliver unrivalled levels of excellence. The successful applicant will be responsible for support the Engineering and Operations Departments to ensure Martec product remains fit for purpose, safe to use and achieving all aspects of the design intent.

Key Responsibilities include:

* Leading activities and investigating customer returns, whilst working with the Engineering team to identify and implement solutions to issues raised and possible related improvement actions

* Ensuring that internal and external customers expectations are consistently met

* Managing product returns, conducting investigations to verify rejection and communicating requirements to Vendors to instigate timely corrective actions

* Providing proactive and accurate feedback to customer quality queries, facilitating and attending meetings with customers to provide containment, corrective and preventative actions plans

* Supporting the Martec Buying team to monitor and report on supplier performance, as well as working with suppliers to improve their capabilities and performance

* Actively promoting and contributing to process and product improvement initiatives

Essential Qualities Include:

* Engineering / Quality City and Guilds or HNC qualification or equivalent

* Experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer

* Mechanical / Electrical manufacturing experience

* Excellent knowledge of Quality Systems

* Internal Auditing knowledge and experience to ISO 9001/AS9100

* Good knowledge of Supplier Quality requirements, including managing customer accounts, process improvement techniques, maintaining Quality records, conducting investigations into Quality problems, as well as carrying out corrective actions and implementing robust countermeasures

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

* Knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, 8D, Control Plans, APQP/PPAP, Gauge R&R, etc

* Ability to problem solve and understand manufacturing processes

* PC literate including Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
