Job Purpose

Assist in the effective procurement of materials and services in support of business unit requirements to ensure short and long-term value through implementation of sourcing strategies to achieve business objectives and/or the lowest total cost of ownership.
Responsibilities
  • Establishing and maintaining an efficient and effective procurement service at all times in support of business buying needs.
  • Handle purchasing requests/enquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation, collection and evaluation of documentation, short listing and selection of suppliers.
  • Ensuring purchases/orders remain primarily focussed with national or preferred suppliers.
  • Ensure adherence with Group & Functional systems, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Updating and maintaining supplier information across relevant systems.
  • Ensuring that all buying activities are carried out in accordance with procurement processes and policies and highlighting any non-compliances to the individual for rectification and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the completion of relevant documentation/processes to support the functioning of supply chains.
  • Establishing strong links with operational teams and continually improving the procurement service provided. Attending operational meetings and visiting sites as and when required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and be recognised as a "trusted partner" (internal & external)

  • Identifying and highlighting any opportunity to continually improve processes, service & value.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of supplier invoices and workflow management to allow the account department to process and pay invoices within the agreed payment terms.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, and comfortable with numerical reasoning.
  • Engaging communicator demonstrating influencing skills and an ability to adapt approaches to differing audiences.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Person
  • Ability to analyse and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to delivering excellent customer service to stakeholders.
  • Well organised, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage competing demands.
  • Maintain effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure - remains calm and in control of themselves.

  • Follow through to ensure that quality & productivity standards are met.

  • Willingness to undertake a security clearance check, subject to the business needs.
