Keir Betts at CK Technical is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join an original equipment manufacturer in the chemical research industry at their site based in Borehamwood on a permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client specialises in research and pre-pilot scale chemical reactors and systems.

This role is located in Borehamwood. The site is easily commutable from London, the great London area and neighbouring cities such as Watford, Luton and Milton Keynes.

The Role:
· Attend project meetings and work with Project Manager to understand the scope of the project.
· Confirm Project requirements with the Project Manager and agree strategy so that any potential issues can be pre-empted and decisions made on the best solutions.
· Review stock requirements for each project and work with Purchasing & Stock Manager, to ensure on time delivery of materials for the project.
· Carry out build of the system, in line with agreed schedule to ensure on time delivery of project.
· Integrate and test instrumentation, following standard operating procedures and testing protocols.
· Provide feedback for quality and continuous improvement systems.
· Clean, pack and assist in shipping of the finished system.
· Other Duties

Maintenance and upkeep of Mechanical Workshop, tools and consumables.
· Work with Purchasing & Stock Manager to ensure optimal mechanical stock levels are maintained.
· Deputise/cover for other Mechanical Engineers as and when required
· Take part in client site visits as and when required.
· Positively contribute to the efficient working of the Mechanical and wider Project teams.
· Cooperate and effectively work with other staff to achieve high levels of employee satisfaction.

Your Background:
· Experience assembling electro-mechanical assemblies
· Experience using assembly hand tools (Socket sets, screw/torx drivers, spanners, drills etc)
· Experience testing electro-mechanical laboratory equipment or similar advanced assemblies
· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) email and use of the Internet
· Has an approachable manner that encourages interaction with others
· Strong commitment to quality
· Clean Driving Licence
· Fluency in written & spoken English

Preferable Skills and Attributes:
· Strong assembly skills
· Experience using small scale machine shop equipment (drill press, lathe, mill, bandsaws, etc)
· Experience of hydraulic/pneumatic system assembly & testing (hard and flexible line)
· Experience of Swagelok/DK-lok/Fitok pressure fittings or similar
· Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects and to tight deadlines
· Excellent troubleshooting skills
· Ability to be flexible in work schedule and accommodate unexpected work changes.
· Ability to work effectively both interdepartmentally and internationally
