Our client, a well-established, fast growing and innovative manufacturer and distributor of environmental/water pumping solutions, seeks to appoint an experienced and capable Technical Author into a brand-new role. The business services a variety of industries across the UK and internationally, with an extensive range of products that are continually developing and evolving. This evolution keeps them at the forefront of their industry, reacting to ever more demanding requirements of the customers and constantly striving for more efficient, quieter and generally more environmentally friendly solutions. The products are also becoming technically more advanced, with the use of telemetry and other cutting-edge IT development. A broad knowledge of both Mechanical & Electrical products would be an advantage although full training and support will be offered in relation to the product range.

This being a brand-new role means you will shape, drive and own the building and development of all areas of the technical documentation department.

Responsibilities of the Technical Author:
  • Set-up, develop and implement technical documentation processes for a vast variety of diesel and electric powered pumps.
  • Work within the design engineering team to gain an in-depth knowledge of the product lines and process flows to accurately and efficiently develop appropriate documentation.
  • Create and maintain user manuals for internal and external use, quick start guides and training collateral.
  • Advise and implement the appropriate software to create technical documents.
  • Produce simplified maintenance instructions and troubleshooting guides, working with marketing to ensure communication is aligned.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement of the technical documentation processes.

Key Skills of the Technical Author:
  • Educated to a Degree/HNC or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Vault would be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to simplify complex information
