HR and Payroll Manager


Salary £12,000 - £14,000 per annum subject to experience, based on 20 hours per week

Gascoigne Halman Estate Agents are established as the areas leading estate agency with 20 branches across South Manchester, Cheshire and the High Peak. The company was established in 1990 and has grown both organically and via acquisition and continues to be a highly profitable and successful company.

The HR and Payroll Manager will be responsible for the administration of the HR and Payroll functions for the company and its 200 employees and will report to the Managing Director and Financial Controller.

The role will be based in a small and friendly team at our Wilmslow HQ and will carry with it a great degree of autonomy.

The role comprises 20 working hours per week. There is potential for flexibility around working days, ideally 4 days per week from 9.00 hrs until 14.00 hrs.

This role will cover a wide and varied range of duties including:
  • Completing HR system administration and updating personnel records.
  • Supporting with recruitment and documentation of HR processes including referencing.
  • The accurate and timely processing of the monthly payroll.
  • Reviewing branch payroll submissions for accuracy.
  • Managing all employee payroll, tax and other pay or benefit related queries.
  • Administering all starters and leavers.
  • Administering pension schemes and ensuring all new starters are auto-enrolled.
  • Producing auto-enrolment letters each month for new joiners to the pension scheme
  • Producing monthly and quarterly reports on payroll and costs
  • Dealing with general queries from internal staff regarding non-routine decisions
  • Reviewing and updating documentation and forms as required

Our ideal HR and Payroll Manager has the following attributes:
  • Experience in HR administration
  • Extensive UK payroll experience including payroll administration
  • Experience of payroll calculation, tax codes, benefits in kind and payroll legislation
  • Organised and able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Knowledge of UK HMRC processes
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
