Payroll Account Manager, Temporary-Permanent, Chelmsford

I am recruiting for a great company who are going through a period of growth and are increasing headcount in their Accounts department currently. I am keen to speak with candidates with Payroll experience - Ideally end to end processing but if you have prepared payroll and are aware of the principles then this is suitable also.

You must have already had exposure and experience working in a busy Payroll department.

Duties will include:
  • Efficient account management of all allocated customer accounts, ensuring contractual obligations are being met
  • Ensuring all payments are checked and correct
  • Proactively escalating issues including seeking authorisation to make payments, informing them of an overspend in good time and escalating where a payroll or payment has been stopped or reduced
  • Proactively communicating with the customer to inform them of any issues on the account including risk of going into deficit, overspending and unauthorised payment requests
  • Investigating queries and issues, including non-payment of invoices
  • Reconciliations
  • Setting-up of new accounts and adding any notes to Sage including HMRC registrations
  • Liaison with the relevant Payroll Processor to ensure payroll check lists are kept up to date
  • To undertake the batching process for allocated payrolls, including submissions of RTI to HMRC
  • Raising manual payments
  • General proactive contact via email, telephone and face to face where appropriate to ensure timely and clear communication

Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience of working in a busy payroll environment
  • Technical understanding of payroll, including end to end processing and manual calculations
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service
  • Excellent administrative skills with an ability to organise a wide range of information
  • Empathy and understanding of customer situation and needs
  • IT literate with experience of Microsoft applications, familiarity with payroll packages - Ideally Sage

Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week
Free parking on-site
£9.50-£11 per hour dependant on experience
Temporary-Permanent role, therefore must be available immediately or with little to no notice period
