My client are currently recruiting for a Communications manager based in Teignbridge. You will manage the operations of the Communications and Marketing service and work closely with the Strategic Lead responsible for Communications in managing strategic issues and developing the service. You will also be responsible for the leadership, management and development of communications, marketing and online services for the Council so that local people and visitors receive high quality information in the most cost effective way.

Main duties.

To provide strategic direction in relation to Teignbridge branding and corporate identity, ensuring strict adherence to professional design and reputation principles.
To protect and enhance the council's reputation, locally, regionally and nationally, through effective proactive communications and a strong place brand narrative.
To develop and manage a central clearing house for communication activity including reputation management, publications branding and design, logo management, awards applications, national feature pitching and ongoing PR activity. To develop an 'in-house' style and provide professional advice on managing the council brand.
Knowledge Skills & Experience

Demonstrable experience of newsroom journalism and/or local government press office.
Proven ability to advise senior staff and Members within a large organisation
Proven ability to understand the diverse functions of a large complex public sector organisation and its cross cutting issues and challenges.
University Degree or equivalent Communications related qualification.
Proven knowledge of the Local Government Group's Reputation Agenda and includes high levels of expertise relating to media and reputational management as well as emerging communications practices.
Excellent demonstrable knowledge of media contacts, in addition to knowledge of local issues affecting the District and the work of the business.
Sound knowledge of local and national government issues and knowledge of current laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to this role.
