Peabody has two exciting opportunities for a Quantity Surveyorto join the team based in Waterloo. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 per annum.

The Quantity Surveyor role:

The new organisation will be a significantly larger, more diverse organisation, employing over 3,000 people. A challenging role, part of a growing business and adding significant value by providing excellent customer service across the new organisation. The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the natural ability to network and build effective relationships with key colleagues across the organisation.

Responsibilities of our Quantity Surveyor include:

- Ensure a robust monthly valuation and works order validation process is followed to accurately value and certify works undertaken by the Customer Services contractors to final account and where necessary gather and provide records to substantiate cost.

- Agreement of Final Accounts with contractors and robust record keeping to protect the business from future claims.

- Support the directorate in delivering the groups efficiency strategy.

- Collaborate with Heads of Service and Contractors to seek efficiency improvements through negotiations and process improvements.

- Re-evaluate contractual risks on a regular basis.

- Resolve contractor disputes and claims and assist Heads of Service with spend recovery where appropriate.

- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with open book reviews and contractor claims and use these as an opportunity to seek efficiency improvements.

- Support Heads of Service in setting recovery plans where contractors are failing, in particular from a Commercial perspective.

- Carry out market comparisons and make recommendations that could increase value for money.

- Collaborate with the Business Development and Strategy team to track average job cost by contractor and identify trends to highlight areas of over claim.

- Provide a monthly summary of payment application rejections with reasons. Collaborate with Heads of Service Delivery to set out plans for contractor performance improvement.

- Monitor historic financial WIP on a monthly basis and chase down for closure through Heads of Service and contractors.

- Form effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to ensure that they are consulted as necessary in regard to departmental activity.

What we're looking for in our Quantity Surveyor:

- Excellent knowledge of commercial processes.

- Excellent knowledge of contracts, procurement methods, and the construction and maintenance industry.

- Knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis.

- Commercially aware with knowledge and understanding of business principles and business planning.

- Experience of structuring and managing financial and statistical reporting.

- Demonstrable experience of working with various procurement methods and excellent contractual knowledge.

- Experience of solving and dealing with complex contractual matters.

- Knowledge of residential construction, both refurbishment and new build.

- Proven negotiation skills.

- Advanced ability in the use of relevant computer systems and software, particularly in Excel and repairs and investment management systems.

- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent or qualified by experience with demonstrable track record.
