This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.Assignment Scope: The Plant Layout Engineer assists the building leader in the technical coordination, production and monitoring of layout engineering studies for one or more buildings by proposing technical solutions.There may be occasional trips to Paris.Behavioural Competencies:• excellent interpersonal skills• ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and verbally• proactive and confident in communicating with others, and ability to influence decisions• ability to effectively manage own workload, produce high quality documents and respect deadlinesMain Accountabilities:General layout engineering
• Receives the input data for the layout engineering of the building (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, equipment data, cable list, electrical load list, etc.), analyses them and verifies their technical consistency.
• Carries out layout engineering or makes proposals to improve the layout.o Lays out the various mechanical and electrical equipment.o Design the pipes, HVAC ducts and electrical cable trays in the 3D model. This role with have a particular focus on layout of pipework.o Carries out an initial check of the consistency between the process & instrumentation diagrams and the 3D model.
• Writes the related technical documents (progress reports, equipment introduction note, change impact analysis, design procedures, etc.).
• Issues the layout drawings to the various teams and coordinates their layout activities by ensuring compliance with the layout rules.Progress monitoring and change management
• Manages and monitors the modifications requested by the various engineering teams.
• Anticipates and raises alerts on open technical points.
• Regularly carries out layout engineering reviews (with all the engineering teams involved).
• Prepares a regular status report on the model in the light of the latest input data.Key relationships: Interactions with all groups/sections related to the building and in particular with the building leaders and civil engineers, systems and components engineers and the team in charge of the analysis of internal hazards.Engineering Level: • Accepting candidates - Engineer with 4 to 8 years' experience / Chartered with 8-15+ years' experienceSecurity Clearance Level:• BPSS level security requiredNote1: This job description is not an exhaustive list of the responsibilities & activities that the job holder may be required to undertakeNote2: Based on our Client site Monday to Friday - 40 hours per weekNote3: Travel and Subsistence is not paid for this roleNote4: Please provide travel plan to Bristol to undertake this role / salary expectation / current notice period on Cover Letter with this application Qualifications Essential:• Qualified to Degree Level and experience in one or more areas of engineering: piping engineering, mechanical, HVAC, safety • Knowledge and experience of using PDMS - essential - please detail experience on CV• Good knowledge of other 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, Navisworks)• Good knowledge and understanding of general layout rules for an industrial project.• Knowledge of the general operation of a nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects (in particular, aspects relating to flooding, fire, radiological protection, high energy line ruptures, etc.).• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations• Proficient user MS Office & Outlook • Concise, conscientious, organised with good writing skills• Good communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative • Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail• Fluent English - written & verbal Desirable:• Membership of a Professional Institute leading to Chartered Status in a relevant topic area• Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects • French Language skills - written & verbal Our CultureAt Jacobs we have celebrated over 10 years of our culture of caring - 'BeyondZero'.
