Responsible to: Vice Principal

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (NE6 1LL)

Our client is an independent provider of Further and Higher Education who believe in enabling all students, staff and organisations with whom they work to achieve their full potential.

We're looking for an experienced, self-motivated individual with an outgoing personality, who is able to use their own initiative whilst working effectively in a responsive environment.

Based in our Head Office in Newcastle, you will operationally manage the IT of UCQ including management of system administration and problem-solving, including PCs and Macs, network and servers, email, software, licences, hardware and managing IT-related projects.

You will be highly organised with the ability to be assertive but tactful. Excellent communication skills are essential, in addition to being able to work to tight deadlines ensuring flexibility in your approach and working hours.

Principal Duties:
  • Manage the IT systems including system administration for all IT services including PCs and Macs
  • Manage the physical IT/communication resources
  • Computer, printer, photocopier and mobile phone imaging, setup and reporting
  • Incident reporting, monitoring and solutions
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to understand technology requirements and issues
  • Provide IT support, training and guidance
  • Manage projects relating to IT
  • Establish processes and procedures for IT systems and support

Main Duties:
  • Manage system administration for servers, PCs and Macs.
  • Manage the networking, directory, domain and email systems.
  • Managing back-up systems and processes.
  • Manage hardware and software.
  • Set up and maintain computers, Macs and laptops to ensure effective use by all users
  • Manage operational IT issues and ensure effective problem solving.
  • Establish and maintain ISO27001 accreditation and cyber essentials.
