A SEND school in Bradford is looking to appoint an Educare Assistant to their PMLD /SLD classroom on a long term basis with a possibility of becoming permanent. The school caters for children with a variety of special needs and associated challenging behaviours. The school specialises in maintain a safe and friendly environment for their pupils, to teach them personal life skills and classroom based learning. The successful candidate will be a member of the pastoral support team enabling pupils to access curriculum continually and support their successful engagement in the learning process so that they can achieve their potential.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
To manage small groups of children independently
To work 1:1 with students to help develop their work
To support the general wellbeing of the students in the school
To monitor and evaluate pupils learning under the guidance of the teacher
To assist the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
Adhering to the schools policies and procedures
Supporting children with medical conditions
Identify and respond appropriately to child welfare and protection concerns
Personal care e.g. feeding, social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, toileting and hydrotherapy
Keeping the school areas clean and tidy
Any other duties commensurate with the grade as directed by your line managers

Good numeracy and literacy skills
Basis technology skills
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties experience
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
Ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
Have an understanding of children with special needs
Be flexible in approach to education
