Your new company

The ICT department are currently going through a transformation and modernisation journey to achieve the 2050 vision of transforming Southend into a Smart City. The ICT function is at the centre of delivering new and innovative services to both the residents and visitors of the Borough. The Council are transforming to a new, future proofed ICT organisation which will offer improved quality of business and IT engagement with colleagues and customers. The ICT department aim to be customer centric, agile in delivery and viewed as Trusted advisors providing thought leadership and design thinking.

To achieve this the Council are looking to appoint an organised, forward thinking and determined Programme Delivery Manager to ensure all IT projects are managed effectively and completed on time.

Your new role
Southend-On-Sea council are going through a huge IT transformation which touches all areas of the organisation. As part of the transformation, naturally there are several new IT led initiatives which are being implemented and a vast number IT projects to be completed. This role as Programme Delivery Manager will see you responsible for the successful completion of all IT led projects within the council.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the programme and projects, including the business process change, technology delivery, and change management required to implement and embed the new systems, IT infrastructures and processes.

This will include ensuring that all teams are delivering to a common plan and purpose, and that risks and issues are well-managed, with transparency of status. Essential to success is establishing strong working relationships with all members of the projects team and all stakeholders in the council.
All the years of experience you've had managing both successful and unsuccessful projects will really help you here. It will allow you to predict potential downfalls and areas of weakness which you can then plan for to ensure avoidance. You will be managing a team of project managers of varying levels and will need to motivate and lead them to success.

What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience as an IT Project/Programme Manager will really help you succeed in this position as you will understand the principles and methodology required to deliver successful IT projects.

Your experience of managing other projects managers will also help you when it's time to lead and motivate your team.
