Why is our eCommerce Engineering team your next step?

We are expanding our established software development centre in Cambridge with the addition of two new agile development teams. We are looking for an experienced leader to support, mentor and develop these teams, ensuring they can reach their full potential.

We processes over 40% of all credit/ debit card transactions in the UK high street and we are the largest payments acquirer in Europe and America. Our two primary eCommerce gateways safely and securely handle several million transactions per day for our customers around the world and we release code into these platforms at least once every few weeks. Extremely high availability and performance is what we do, and you can expect over 800 transactions per second to flow through these gateways on a busy day.

How will you contribute?

In this role, you will manage two agile development teams and develop their skills through mentoring, coaching and pairing. Your teams will not only enhance our existing high-performance platforms, but also build brand new agnostic services that will become part of the Worldpay payments ecosystem. As a servant-leader, you will be a vital part of these cross-functional engineering teams containing developers, testers, product owners and analysts practicing agile development (Scrum or Kanban). Work is integrated and delivered continuously, keeping the feedback loop between product leadership, engineering and end-users as tight and responsive as possible.

We value diversity and empowerment within our teams and strive for continual improvement as expected for truly agile working. We're looking for a leader who will nurture the collaboration between the teams and with all stakeholders across the Worldpay organisation.

Why you?
You'll have a proven track record of leading high performing engineering teams, sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and experience developing business critical distributed systems. You'll have strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills, the ability to drive change, and a great track record of delivery in a similar environment. You'll have experience with Agile methods and tools; SAFe, Scrum and Kanban, as well as knowledge of CI/ CD tooling.

A technical background in software development is ideal, as well as knowledge of payments or the financial technology industry.
