I'm working with a fantastic organisation based in Birmingham. They are in need of a Buyer / Category Manager to join them on an interim to permanent basis paying up to £43,000 on a fixed term contract.

Knowledge of:-

- Public Sector procurement procedures and Regulations
- Tendering, request for proposal and contracting procedures including development of specifications, development and application of standardised procedures etc. in the construction industry
- Legislation applicable to the procurement of major and minor works projects and supporting services.
- Contractor and Supplier (in particular Consultants) appraisal techniques.
- Contract, Contractor and Supplier (in particular Consultants) management and performance appraisal techniques.

Skills:-
- Ability to operate at strategic and operational/executive levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels.
- Negotiating and networking skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Work on own initiative.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, self motivated but also able to work as part of a Team, within the Procurement Division and in particular with the Estates Office and as part of Project Teams.
- Ability to influence, persuade and to ensure that the the organisation and/or the procurement function is properly represented at all levels.
- Use of MS Word and Excel and computer skills in general.
- Written, Verbal and Presentational skills.
