Salary: £24,000-£26,000

About us

We are a manufacturer and supplier of environmental monitoring equipment and laboratory apparatus. We are a small but well-established company with a global presence.

We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Fitter. Ideally the applicant should have experience working in mechanical assembly.

We are small team of only seven people, so the successful candidate will quickly gain exposure to the many facets of manufacturing. Dependent on performance, there will be scope for progression within the company.

Responsibilities - Mechanical Fitter
  • Build assemblies to the required quality and cost.
  • Perform other duties such as filing, deburring and lead work.
  • Support other engineers in the workshop.
  • Resolve any problems identified during the assembly process.
  • Work efficiently and methodically to meet deadlines.
  • Liaise with the sales team to assist in the creation of a production schedule
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Work with the team to maintain high workmanship
  • Inspection and quality control.
  • Unpacking of supplier deliveries.
  • Stocktaking.

Experience (desirable)- Mechanical Fitter
  • Experience assembling mechanical instruments
  • Ability to read and understand general assembly drawings
  • Experience working with lathes, drills and surface grinders
  • Toolmaking
  • Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in mechanical fitting
  • Control systems and electronics
