EDP Commercial Manager

EDP will help the MOD to reduce the cost of engineering services, while ensuring the UK's Armed Forces receive the best equipment and support, using an innovative delivery model that QinetiQ first pioneered through the Strategic Enterprise contract for air engineering services. Why don't you join some of the world's finest scientific and technical minds and help us make tomorrow work today?Job description/Person specificationJob description/Person specification: Job / Role Description: This is a demanding role with responsibility for providing commercial support to a diverse portfolio of engineering projects from initial opportunity identification through to contract completion. The role will also provide commercial support to the management of EDP Agreement (for which QinetiQ is the prime contractor) as well as supporting the Consortium Agreement with Atkins and BMT.You will be responsible for all aspects of commercial support including customer bidding and contracting, pricing, risk management, change control, contract and document drafting, and dispute resolution.You will be a senior member of a dynamic commercial team led by an experienced Commercial Director and EDP Commercial Portfolio Lead, where your hard work and professional experience will be expected to generate innovative commercial solutions. You will be expected to manage your portfolio with minimal supervision and have experience of leading negotiations and managing complex contracts. Your portfolio will vary with the demands of the business, so flexibility is key. This role will be based at the Bristol QinetiQ site but some travel to other QinetiQ sites may be required from time to time. Regular travel to DE&S Abbey Wood will be expected.You may be expected to provide coaching and informal supervisory duties to more junior members of the team. You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic person with strong work ethic. You will have excellent English language oral and written skills, be highly numerate, and have a lively and personable character. You will enjoy debate and complex problem solving, and like to work in multi-disciplinary teams. You will have a desire to learn in a complex, results-orientated profession which is mentally and physically demanding. Accountabilities • Works closely with the Aurora Hub/Commercial Hub Team, Business Development, Procurement and project teams to structure, negotiate and close compelling EDP customer contracts in accordance with QinetiQ approvals.• Provides comprehensive support and advice on contractual and commercial matters relevant to EDP including the EDP Agreement and the Consortium Agreement.• Ensures that the Business follows QinetiQ Commercial governance and establishes commercial best practice appropriate to the Business.• Works closely with other QinetiQ functions (IP, Legal, Insurance, Risk, Contracts, Projects, and Bid Management) to manage these aspects of the project, opportunity or bid to QinetiQ standards, and provide assistance and advice when required• Works to achieve an advantageous risk / reward balance for QinetiQ and its EDP partners.• Communicates policy, guidance and awareness, ensuring best practice and consistency across QinetiQ.• Manage the post contract process, ensuring continued customer satisfaction.Competencies • A proven track record of structuring, negotiating and closing deals.• A significant record of commercial management. • Previous experience of providing relevant advice on all commercial aspects of transactions and agreements.• Used to drafting and managing service agreements including customer contracts, software licences, NDAs, TAAs, ITARs, Teaming Agreements, • Used to working with financial information and is aware of financial impacts on bids/contracts/projects.• Previous experience of working with Business Development teams.• Expert user of MS Excel and is able to use spread sheets to show and read financial information.• Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with external customers both orally and in writing.• Strong influencing skills.• Proactive and responsive to customer/team needs.• Able to quickly build good working relationships with internal and external customers.• Able to initiate change, and support change programmes within QinetiQ.• Deliver own tasks to time quality and cost. • Highly motivated, a self-starter with initiative and capable of working with minimal supervision.• Have a high level of attention to detail.• Be flexible and able to work within a dynamic small team environment.• Ability to generate and apply ideas and concepts.• Must be able to achieve full UK SC.• Ability to travel both in the UK and overseas. • Holds a licence that enables them to drive in the UK.
