SMS Plc provide a completely integrated service from beginning to end, from project managing the installation of the gas and/or electricity supply and connection through to the procurement, installation and management of the meter asset, data collection and on-going energy management solutions.
Working at our Cardiff office within the Finance & Treasury function, you will prepare the management accounts and manage the payments and receipting processes on behalf of a Client as part of a small team.

You will oversee the Management Accountant Assistant, allocating and reviewing their work and providing them with support where necessary.
You will also support the Head of Energy Bureau in managing the Client's reporting expectations in terms of billing, portfolio management reporting and analytics.

Typical Duties
  • Maintain all financial books and records
  • Payment processing and administration
  • Preparation of management accounts in line with the relevant accounting policies
  • Month end prepayment and accrual calculations
  • Preparing and posting journals
  • Preparation and assistance with supporting schedules
  • Produce balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variance
  • Undertake financial analysis and production of supporting financial and non-financial reports
  • Preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • Portfolio management including managing and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
  • Liaising with other Group Finance functions to ensure accuracy and completeness in reporting
  • Assisting with streamlining and improving processes
  • Undertaking financial administration
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and provision of assistance with the annual audit process
  • Ensuring HMRC requirements and deadlines are met
  • Support and deputise the Head of Energy Bureau as appropriate
  • To comply with all SMS Plc Health, Safety and Environmental requirements

Education and Experience
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English / Mathematics at grades C or above
  • Additional 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades D or above
  • Degree level education (non-specified)
  • Finance/Management Accounting
  • Self-motivator who is pro-active
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Employment experience within the utility industry
  • Microsoft Dynamics365 Accounting Software experience
