An Assistant Geotechnical Engineering opportunity has come available for a Geotechnical Engineer with both site and interpretive/design experience looking to complete their ICE chartership program.

You will have the chance to work for an SME international design consultancy working on major highway and electrification schemes throughout the UK.

You will be sat within a very established team of Geotechnical Engineers helping to deliver projects on a technical and commercial basis. Within this team, they like to give the more junior engineers exposure to project management, client liaison as well as technical delivery. With an ICE chartership mentoring program in place, they pride themselves on mentoring engineers throughout the full checklist.

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will help the geotechnical design team deliver and project manage throughout all design and build schemes. You will be assisting on the technical delivery of phase 1, Phase 2 site investigations / reporting, ground movement, movement monitoring as well detailed design for; foundations, earthworks, rafts, piles, shallow/deep foundations, retaining walls and slope stability etc.

To progress as an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer, you must:
  • MEng degree in Civil Engineering or a degree in Engineering Geology or Geology with a post graduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Progressing with chartership
  • All-round technical knowledge of Geotechnical engineering
  • Show experience of participation in the design and project management of major building and/or infrastructure projects up to and including construction stage
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team.
  • Use of computer software for the analysis of geotechnical problems, preferably to include the use of Finite Element or other numerical methods
