Senior Customer Data and Insight Analyst

Dunelm aren't just known for their duvets and cushions. Behind the scenes we have an incredible employee database made up of people from finance, to marketing and currently, we are expanding our fairly new Customer Insights team.

Key responsibilities:

As Senior Customer Data and Insight Analyst, you will be responsible for providing actionable insights, rooted in data, to support all aspects of customer-centric operations at Dunelm. The data team at Dunelm is a relatively new and burgeoning resource, this is a role where you'll get involved in some really interesting and varied work from the get go with the chance to deliver some real, quantifiable wins for the business. Duties will include:
  • Support data leadership in coordinating with different business functions to uncover and provide data-driven recommendations designed to drive customer engagement and increase loyalty.
  • Build, score and evaluate complex data models via the CRISP-DM process flow.
  • Develop and implement data analysis methodologies to ensure optimal interpretation of diverse data sources (customer, transaction, clickstream, etc.).
  • Challenge and improve Dunelm's analytical capability through development of tools or processes that offer new and innovative data-driven opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for standardisation and automation of existing solutions and processes to enable Dunelm to realise the maximum potential from our teams.
  • Work both internally and externally to specify, acquire and prepare data from primary and secondary sources for analysis.
  • Perform hands-on analysis using a full suite of technical tools (SQL, Python, GA 360 etc.) to create timely, relevant, and actionable insight.
  • Ensure business insights are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure sound knowledge of customer and business context.
  • Act as an SME with a commitment to knowledge share for upskilling and training the wider team.

Skills and experience required:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a numerate subject e.g. Stats, Maths, Physics, Economics, etc.
  • Commercial experience within data science or insight analysis with a focus on customer data.
  • Technical expertise regarding building data models (e.g. clustering, regression, classification, etc.), database design development, data mining techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Python preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at data mining via SQL (Experience with Microsoft SQL Server an advantage).
  • Advanced Excel skills, Pivot Tables, Macros, Modelling - ideally VBA.
  • Good report writing and presenting skills.
  • Experience with AWS/cloud analytical and data visualisation tools (Microsoft PowerBI would be an advantage).
  • Ability to work proactively and manage own workload to tight deadlines with a flexible approach.
  • Critical thinker, inquisitive, data detective.
