Five Education are working with a special school in Somerset who are looking for a teacher to work full time in a KS3 class, leading students who are working at primary levels. This role would suit a primary trained SEND teacher or a SEND teacher who is used to working with a primary curriculum.
This role will encompass a full teaching workload including planning, preparation and parents evenings. There will be two LSA's in the class, this is a small school and they have less than 100 pupils on roll. The children have a range of SEN including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Social Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) and ADHD.

There is a possible opportunity to become permanent as there is an ongoing need for this vacancy.
Responsibilities and duties
  • Teaching Full Time, at a primary level
  • Planning and Preparation of resources and lessons
  • Liaising with parents and caregivers including at parents evenings
  • Providing support and guidance to the LSA's
  • Working as part of a team
  • Enabling students to access the curriculum
  • Keeping students engaged and interested in lessons
  • Teaching secondary aged children with SEND, which may include SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) and Complex Needs

Essential Criteria
  • Must hold QTS
  • Must have experience teaching children with SEND
  • Must have Primary curriculum experience
  • Must have a driving licence, as the school is not centrally located
  • Will have strong communication and empathy skills
  • Will be flexible, adaptable and positive

We offer PAYE (100 - 150 for this role, dep on exp.) and don't work with umbrella companies.
