Software Developer, Newcastle upon Tyne

Our client, highly successful software house made up of a team of proven, top grade professionals with a client portfolio encompassing local government across England and Wales is looking for an ambitious Software Developer to join their team. This company develops, implements and supports software modules that control and deliver Planning, Building Control, Highways and eGovernment amongst other functions.

This Software House create products using:

- PowerBuilder,

- the latest .Net technology including WPF,

- C# and Entity Framework

The successful applicant will bring development experience either as part of a university computing degree or via commercial development projects. Whilst you will be surrounded by an outstanding team of developers to support your own development, you will be an individual who thrives on innovation and is comfortable in 'owning' development tasks. You will need to demonstrate imaginative problem-solving skills and the ability to create solid maintainable code. We also expect the successful applicant to be able to communicate clearly and professionally with our clients as well as team members.

Client contact is an important part of the role, since you will be expected to be in day-to-day contact with our customers. The projects here are extremely varied, covering the whole software lifecycle, yet we primarily focus upon developing and expanding the footprint of our PowerBuilder authored "MasterGov" suite of products.

They are currently converting the product to Microsoft .Net C#, but the primary implementation is still PowerBuider. The applicant will find themselves involved in systems scoping and specification production, R&D, billed system modifications and client support.

Our client is a Microsoft Gold Partner with access to the latest Microsoft technology, and are therefore keen to utilise and explore technological advances. You will be expected to keep up to date with new technology and understand where this technology can be safely applied. You will be backed up by a team of highly experienced software professionals. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week and are semi-flexible between the Monday-Friday start and finish times. Generous pay and bonuses are provided.

Together we will achieve! If you're looking for the next step in your career, or alternatively, if you're looking for the next superstar for your business, call us today!
