We have a totally awesome opportunity for an experienced UNDERWRITING & OPERATIONS MANAGER to join our Client during an exciting period of growth.

As an experienced people and operations manager you'll thrive as you'll have direct responsibility for a team of underwriters and case progressors, and will play a key role in ensuring our Client is underwriting their cases effectively and building strong relationships with partners, brokers, solicitors and surveyors.

Your key accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage by example to ensure commitment, loyalty and high-performance levels
  • Deliver performance targets to agreed service levels and managing performance at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Ensure sound and well-defined criteria and clearly established processes are developed and implemented through the whole loan process from enquiry, through application, underwriting, completion, administration of the loan and redemption to safeguard the company's proposition and requirements
  • Provide experienced, pragmatic underwriting skills which fulfil the requirements of the company's proposition
  • Deputize when appropriate for the Managing Director of the company
  • Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and evolve the operating model to be flexible to meet changing customer and market needs.
  • Manage the resource plan, to forecast peaks and troughs and deploy people to meet and deliver business priorities
  • Develop and manage an operating budget and headcount to meet delivery of the growth and profit plans
  • Lead and motivate employees to achieve income and profitability targets and deliver excellent customer service, building a culture of positive energy, empowerment, creativity and teamwork
  • Follow the company's stakeholder proposition and culture statement
  • Ensure effective performance management of all employees including development, training and succession planning to raise the capability and performance
  • Develop and maintain successful working relationships with all stakeholders, internally, across the group and externally to include financial intermediaries, legal and valuer relationships.
  • Deliver all compliance in order to maintain high industry standards through commercial service
  • Contribute and deliver to group requirements where appropriate

A bit about you:
  • Experience of underwriting short-term property related loans
  • Ideally experience of sub prime/ buy to let
  • CeMap 3
  • 5-years' + experience in an operational role within financial services but wants to step up to a new challenge where there is opportunity for enhanced personal reward for their contribution. The individual will be required
  • Love hands-on working within several small teams, opportunity to grow these teams subject to successful results.
  • A working knowledge of the HR process
