PHP Back End Developer ... flexi time and one day a week home working if you wish . This role is based at our clients offices in Bristol BS8 so also commutable from Newport, Bridgwater or Bath . Their team is growing and need a skilled and enthusiastic Back End Software Developer to join their expanding Software Development Team. This could also be based out of their Bridgwater , Somerset office if that was nearer for you .

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and exciting department in an expanding , award winning business . They have retail shops / trade counters , warehouses spanning the UK and Netherlands and throughout Europe and beyond with lots more plans in action for future growth

Working within Agile development teams, you will play a key role in the building, developing, testing and maintaining clients core business systems. Helping the business become more efficient and enhance the customer service offering, through the continuous development of our website, extranet business system, EPOS sales systems and stock management systems

What theyre looking for :


·A real interest in keeping up to date with the latest in development; languages, methodologies, standards and everything else.

Fresh graduate or experienced and self-taught; it doesn't matter if you possess the following key skills:

Essential skills:

PHP, PHPUnit , Laravel MySQL, Git, Linux/UNIX experience 2+ years of experience building web applications Effective time management Able to work to tight deadlines.

Desirable skills:

Knowledge and experience of MVC/MVP frameworks, NoSQL (MongoDB, Elastic, Solr), Javascript (React, Vue.js) - Proficient in SQL (advanced queries, prepared statements, triggers etc) - Experience of continuous integration (Jenkins) -- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Scope solutions for the business system in line with business requirements.

- Build efficient programs and systems that serve user needs.

- Test software products to ensure strong functionality and optimisation.

- Integrate software components and third-party programs where required.

- Maintain, support and improve the performance of existing software.

- Communicate and feedback progress to project management and other relevant stakeholders.

- Participate in peer code reviews.

- Create technical documentation for reference.

- Attend and contribute effectively to all Scrum ceremonies.

Salary is dependent on experience
