JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a n Income Accounting Officer with excellent administrative, customer service and communication sk ills to join Income Team to maintain the highest standards of rent collection and leasehold charges and to assist with the recovery of unpaid debt. As the Income Accounting Officer, y ou will have experience of working in an office administration environme nt, and of communicating with customers by phone, in writing and face-to-face. You should also have some knowledge of debt-recovery processes, and knowledge of housing management databases (or similar) would be an advantage. With a customer-focused, flexi ble, collaborative and we ll organised working style, and the ability to work calmly, effectively and accurately under pressure, as the Income Accounting Officer you will be self-motivated, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good numera cy skills and you'll enjoy working with figures. DUTIES Your duties and responsibilities as the Income Accounting Officer include: Ensure al l changes to accounts are carried out promptly and accurately Control charges and payments in respect of Universal Credit s payments Notify residents promptly of changes to their accounts Actively promote payment by Direct Debit, maximising payme nt by this method. Set up new Direct Debits without delay and monitor frequently to ensure amounts collected from bank accounts ar e accurate Advise tenants of changes to HB entitlements and make changes to accounts and direct debits as appropriate I ssue Rent cards and Allpay payment cards Regularly check accounts for changes in benefits and overpayments requiring refunds Assist w ith recovery processes to support colleagues through peaks of workload Make arrangements with debtors for the sett lement of arrears and to closely monitor compliance with arrangements Liaise with Borough be nefits teams regarding payments to accounts Res pond positively to residents' enquiries regarding their accounts, on the telephone and at the reception desk or in residents' homes Assist with the issue of rent statements to all tenants on a quarterly basis Contact outgoing tenants to ensure all debts are cleared prior to the return of the keys IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIRE MENTS Experience of office work and general administration Some experience of working with customers on the telephone, face - to - face and in writing Good standard of general education to GCSE or equivalent including Maths and English Customer focussed with good written and verbal communication skills Can work to deadlines Flexible and responsive to changing workload Attention to detail Enjoys working with figures ICT literate - Micr osoft (or similar) packages for Word, Excel or Outlook Some knowledge of databases particularly Housing Management systems (or similar) Knowledge of the processes involved in the recovery of unpaid debts Some knowledge of welfare bene fits including Univ ersal Credit and PIP HOW TO APPLY O nce you've applied for this role through this site you will be required to complete an online application form and the details will be emailed over separately.
