Division Summary
The Legal Department provides legal advisory and transactional support to all divisions of ICBC Standard Bank Plc. The Bank's lawyers provide support to all of the Bank's business divisions, in particular the trading floor. The lawyers in the Legal Department cover a wide range of legal specialisms and expertise, including physical commodities, derivatives, capital markets, financial regulation and litigation.
Job Purpose

We are looking for a highly motivated intermediate commercial contracts lawyer to work on a broad range of commercial contracts with the Bank's Procurement, IT, and Office of the COO functions (including Outsourcing). The role is based in the London Legal Department which is located on the Bank's trading floor.
Key Responsibilities

Advise upon and negotiate to execution various procurement, technology, market data, intellectual property and other contracts, such as software licenses, maintenance agreements, service level agreements, outsourcing agreements and professional services agreements.

Provide commercial contract, data protection, technology and intellectual property law advice to various internal clients (e.g. Procurement, Office of the COO).

Review, interpret and analyse agreements with vendors and suppliers, advising ICBCS on the rights and responsibilities related to those agreements, including in light of ICBCS policies and regulatory guidance

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Legally qualified - Intermediate Solicitor - (English qualified preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in negotiating contracts for complex transactions with third party providers, including outsourcing, intellectual property licensing, equipment purchase, application service provider, property/office leases, data processing, consulting, professional and other services
  • Experience with data protection including GDPR, market data, privacy, intellectual property, outsourcing, offshoring, contracting and related regulatory and risk environments required
  • Knowledge of current data protection regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions in which ICBCS operates (including UK and Singapore)
  • In-house experience in the financial services industry desirable
  • Experience working on projects
  • Familiarity with technology and intellectual property dispute resolution desirable
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent team work and communication skills
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, including advising partners and clients on drafting clear and concise descriptions of business requirements
