In a nutshell
You'll be responsible for planning and optimising scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance anywhere around our fleet network in accordance with the Approved Maintenance Programme and other operational requirements within EASA regulations.

Day to day

  • You'll establish the accuracy and timely planning output of the line, base and commercial Planning teams within Engineering
  • You'll ensure that Line Maintenance Planning enables full aircraft availability to support the operational flying programme
  • It will be down to you to ensure that maintenance planned for the Virgin Atlantic hangars is coordinated through a Load Capacity process that optimises the available man-power, hangar capacity and revenue opportunities.
  • You will lead in achieving the Engineering Maintenance Plan, defining, agreeing and managing the detailed service level agreements in order that aircraft maintenance checks and other services; formalising and delivering quality standards, audit and monitoring processes and cost parameters, ensuring focus on minimising aircraft downtime and optimising ownership costs
  • To provide sound leadership and direction to our Planning department teams to ensure the technical and compliance requirements of Engineering are met and the divisional plan is achieved.
  • You will develop a performance culture within the team and lead all aspects of staff performance.
  • Define all business processes that support the ongoing management of the department and ensure that they are detailed in the Engineering Department Procedures or Local Instructions, through 'SharePoint 'as appropriate
  • You'll actively assist the Head of Technical Operations in the creation of the strategic capital and overhead budgets of the Planning department in line with the needs of the business
  • Develop cross functional processes with Outsourced Maintenance team and Programmes for efficient life cycle management
  • Managing external supplier relationships and internal partners
  • Reduction in maintenance costs as defined in business plans
  • Projects managed to cost and delivered on time

About you

We expect you to have an in-depth knowledge of CAA, EASA and other National Airworthiness Authority Regulations, possess professional qualifications in aircraft engineering e.g. EASA B1 / B2 licence, C Eng / I Eng. You'll possess excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with demonstrable abilities in compiling and delivering presentations/reports to all levels within the business. If you're able to demonstrate a track record of managing performance and leading a team through change initiatives, then we'd definitely like to learn more about you.

Do you have a thorough, detailed and analytical approach to your work and strive to develop a professional team culture? Are you an exceptional communicator with great persuasion skills at all levels both internally and externally?

Your hangar and line maintenance experience in Production or production Planning function and/or check management experience within an MRO environment will be invaluable. Recent experience of long haul Line and Base maintenance planning on VAA Fleet or similar technology aircraft will be valuable.
