In a nutshell

Are you an established Safety investigator? You will be accountable for carrying out flight safety investigations into incidents and near misses and supporting a positive safety culture.

Contribution to the development of corporate safety standards at Virgin Atlantic, while assisting in maintaining these through reactive and active Safety/Risk Management will be key. You also have input to the continuous improvement of the Corporate Safety & Security Management System.

Day to day

  • Provision of technical safety expertise to other parts of Virgin Atlantic (VAA).
  • You'll be responsible for Flight operations incident investigation and reporting of reportable occurrences to the relevant regulatory body.
  • Liaising with and advising company training departments on safety standard methodology and examples of successes and failures, ensuring up to date safety knowledge is cascaded to VAA personnel.
  • You will communicate, promote and raise safety awareness through the provision of reviews and investigations.
  • You will also cascade the awareness of safety data to safe guard the company's customers, suppliers, staff and assets.
  • Analysing and presenting safety performance data.
  • Dissemination of safety related information and feedback from events and investigations using internal communications media.
  • Ensuring organisational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Show visibility in the business to listen to the people delivering the service/operation, for you to build this into safety plans.

About you

As Safety Investigator, a genuine desire to make a difference to safety will be a key part of your role. You will have integrity and independence with an ability to balance safety and risk against business and operational demands with a confident and positive approach. You'll have the ability to think analytically and creatively to arrive at effective solutions.

Do you have a strong Aviation background? A detailed knowledge and experience of the operational area and investigation/interview techniques? Have you specific safety related qualifications/experience and work experience, specifically within Operations? Operational Safety Risk assessment techniques and data interpretation experience would be great advantage. If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
