A one year secondment opportunity has become available for a Fetal Monitoring Specialist Midwife to join the maternity team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Lister is a 720-bed district general hospital in Stevenage which has excellent transport links with the A1M being next to Stevenage and a centrally located mainline train station. Kings Cross can be reached in 26 minutes so this is an enviable location. The Hospital offers general and specialist hospital services for people across much of Hertfordshire and South Bedfordshire and provides a full range of medical and surgical specialties. We have recently invested £150 million in new facilities. In October 2011 we opened our fantastic new purpose built Consultant Led Unit with 2 dedicated Obstetric theatres, a co-located Midwife Led Unit and an upgraded NICU/SCBU. This new build offers our women increased choices around their birth options, in up to date facilities as well as being an excellent environment for our staff to work in. The Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit births in excess of 5500 women a year, 25% of which deliver in our Midwife Led Unit. This exciting opportunity is for an experienced motivated midwife with evidence of postgraduate study, leadership and coaching skills who is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through supporting the implementation of a physiological approach to interpretation of fetal monitoring and intelligent auscultation in maternity services at ENHT. As a trust we are committed to achieving the government's vision of reducing stillbirth rates by 20% by 2020 and by 50% by 2030 through the implementation of the elements of Saving babies lives care bundle version two. We are looking for a specialist lead midwife with excellent clinical knowledge, experienced in working with fetal monitoring in low and high risk areas who is is passionate about improving neonatal outcomes. The ideal candidate will have an ability to influence others and manage change, supporting multidisciplinary teams in the implementation of physiological fetal monitoring approaches.
