Our marine client based in Leicester requires an experienced Software Engineer (Applications).

You will be based in their Leicester office which incorporates office and development space. They are in an exciting period of growth and we are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join their engineering team, contributing to the development of new and existing sensor applications. This is a "hands on" role as part of a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary and dynamic team and will be crucial to bringing their current ideas through from initial prototype to customer acceptance. In particular they are working on a new suite of sensors to respond to the increasing demand for situational awareness and autonomous operations at sea; their customer`s ultimate success depends on their ability to solve these cutting-edge problems.


- Develop new and existing software applications as part of engineering team
- Supports translation of customer needs into product features.
- Establish, maintain and extend in-depth technical expertise in the latest advances.

Essential skills:

- Expertise writing maintainable and testable code in C# / WPF (Visual Studio)
- Degree in a software related area (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience
- Proven track record of Object-Orientated Design
- Relevant experience in software design for client/server desktop applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative and can-do attitude
- Experience with a source control environment (ideally Subversion)

Desirable skills:

- Knowledge of Agile development practices, including unit testing
- Experience using MVVM design pattern.
- Familiarity with Jenkins continuous integration or equivalent.
- Awareness of popular development in .NET and related frameworks (ideally 4.5+)
- Algorithm development
- Embedded Systems, C++, Python
- Experience working with sensors (radar, vision etc)
- Willing to occasionally travel to test sites (onshore) or on vessels for sea trials (offshore)
