Are you an experienced business development manager with an interest in shaping the future of the world`s energy?

Have you worked in a technical or scientific environment specifically with knowledge of radioactive structural materials and the challenges associated with working with these?

Nuclear fusion, the process that powers the Sun, can play a big part in our carbon-free energy future. Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (the research arm of the UK Atomic Energy Authority), is one of the World`s leading fusion research laboratories.

We have been developing several business units, aligned with some of the key technical challenges in delivering practical fusion power. You will be the dedicated business development manager for our Materials Research Facility (MRF), and this is a new position which has the potential to provide a successful and rewarding career in a technically exciting and diverse marketplace.

Key accountabilities will include:

-Identifying and winning new business across UK and international markets
-Building internal support from technical, project and commercial staff
-Attending industry relevant conferences and meetings (i.e research groups in materials in nuclear)
-Maintaining up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the specialist skills and experience in fusion-related technology
-Collaborate with commercial and marketing team to support the business development processes
-Responsible for proposal preparations and associated spend, working with both internal and external team members

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
- Experience of working in and knowledge of radioactive structural materials and challenges associated with working with irradiated materials.
- Higher National / Degree qualified in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Can very quickly make the link between facility capabilities and customer requirements.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Collaborative and adept at working as part of a team.
- Proven ability to work with initiative.
- Well organized and capable of managing to deadlines and priorities.

Desirable
-Experience of working in the nuclear industry

Special requirements:
