BMI Harbour Hospital in Poole is part of BMI Healthcare, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Patient Liaison Officer to join their team of staff in the Marketing department.

This is a PART time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. This will be for a period of 9 months only to cover maternity leave.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Previous experience of working in Healhcare or an alternative professional customer focused environment would be beneficial.
  • Able to prioritise workload and deal with pricing enquiries and costing of surgical procedures for self funding patients
  • Proven influencing/sales skills
  • Marketing experience is preferred, but not essential
  • Working within service performance standards
  • Numeric
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills

Duties of this role include:
  • To convert appropriate self pay enquiries and consultations to self-pay procedures within BMI against pre-agreed targets
  • To ensure a quality service for potential self pay patients including the accurate and timely response to self-pay enquiries from patients, consultants, medical secretaries and the National Enquiry Centre (NEC)
  • To facilitate necessary access times and information required for patients to convert to procedure
  • To appropriately influence patients to choose BMI for their procedure
  • Provide pre-consultation information and indicative pricing accurately and promptly to the NEC and to patients that have enquired directly to the hospital/self-pay office to maximise conversion to appointment
  • Fulfil patient requests for information with email or posted information by the end of the same day as the initial request
  • Follow up pre-consultation enquiries that have reached the hospital directly (not via the NEC) within 24 hours of the initial request
