Preschool Nursery practitioner / assistant SENCO

We are a NEW Pre-school that have only been open a short time and we are looking for a new member of staff to join our team with SEN experience. We are a small setting that looks after children from 2-4 years. We are a friendly and supportive team, looking for someone who is enthusiastic, with good experience within early years and children with SEN. You will be working alongside our dedicated Manager and Deputy helping to work alongside our children and take a 1 to 1 lead the daily running care of our SENCO children.

We are looking for someone who has experience in SENCO to either work alongside our team in supporting the SEN children or to be able the Lead within the setting as a SEN coordinator .

Main duties and responsibilities of the room lead

  • To plan, carry out creative and appropriate opportunities according to children's needs and interests to fulfil the requirements of the EYFS.
  • To develop and maintain good relationships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate meeting the needs of each child.
  • Working creatively with children within the EY framework, in order to provide an enabling learning environment for all children.
  • Ensuring all children have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

SENCO Duties;
  • Ensure all practitioners in the setting understand their responsibilities to children with SEN and the setting's approach to identifying and meeting SEN.
  • Ensure parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the setting.
  • Liaise with professionals or agencies beyond the setting.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Hold a relevant Early Years qualification equivalent to Level 2 or above
  • Experience of working with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Understanding and recognition of the principles of equality and diversity.
  • Experience of having kept written records of children's achievements including observations.
  • SEN qualifications / experience.

The role is full time (38hrs hours per week over 4 days) and salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
