About The RoleSelwood pumps are seeking a highly motivated Technical Author to strengthen our expanding engineering team. This is new role and a unique opportunity to set up and manage the technical documentation department within the business. You will work closely with all areas of the business to create English language documentation and organise the delivery of documents in multiple European languages. As part of a forward-thinking team, you will be given the freedom to innovate and the support to implement new ideas.

Responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product, process flows and documentation requirements
  • Advise on software requirements and best practice for creating technical documents
  • Produce and maintain a range of technical documentation including user manuals, quick start guides, marketing material and training collateral
  • Simplify maintenance instructions, assembly sequences and troubleshooting guides using technical illustrations wherever possible
  • Create and manage templates to improve efficiency and consistency of style
  • Proof read and review documentation for other departments
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure aligned communication across all channels
  • Continuously drive improvements to the knowledge management and documentation process

    Essential qualifications and skills:
  • Demonstrable experience as a technical author
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Quality focused with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to present complex information in a simplified format
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
  • Passionate about new technologies, new ideas and new ways of thinking
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritisation
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing/assembly techniques with the ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Logical and thorough approach to problem solving
  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Degree / HNC or equivalent qualification
  • Some knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Vault
  • Experience within Construction, Engineering or OEM industrieS
