Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced SCDW to join our team at our new Early Learning and Childcare centre at Scots Corner in Penicuik. Scots Corner will be our first all year early learning and childcare setting for children age 2-5yrs and their families. We are excited to be working in partnership with the army to design a wonderful new centre that meets the needs of the children/families in the local community and beyond.

The centre will provide high quality early learning and childcare to children and families from the armed forces and the wider community. Working as part of a small team you will work in close partnership with the armed forces, local LA settings and partner organisations to ensure that we are 'Getting it Right' for all our children and families.

The successful candidate will work closely with the centre manager to develop this new centre and support/lead practice across the setting. This unique setting will provide the right person with the opportunity to develop their skills in working with children age 2-5yrs, work closely with families to develop that all important family learning approach and look at how we can challenge and develop current areas of practice in supporting armed forces families throughout their early learning journey and beyond.

The successful candidate should hold an SVQ3 or HNC in Childhood Practice and have experience of working in an early years setting

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £30,562.87 per annum.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
