We'll always do the right thing, to inspire trust in our people and our customers.As a skilled Application Software Engineer, you will play a key part in the GI IT team as the subject matter expert in all things GIOS (General Insurance Operational Systems), making adjustments and configuration changes via the GIOS UI and the database via Oracle - PL/SQL. You'll produce quality documentation from your understanding by knowledge transfer from developers.This role is immersed in the General Insurance business, integrated into the activities of a number of project teams and so you'll be using your combination of business and technical knowledge to fully support the Broker business. You'll be focussed on maximising service efficiency through the use of incident and problem management procedures and through Continuous Service Improvement; you'll want to 'make it better'.Working alongside other team members you'll provide analysis, fix, test and deployment capabilities for CPD, GIOS and Azure. You'll contribute to reviewing designs for changes and services. As a fully integrated service in the broker business you'll be reporting and presenting back to key business stakeholders too.About YouYou are looking for a new opportunity where you can bring together your General Insurance knowledge, particularly your work in the past in Broker, and your technical knowledge of Oracle (PL/SQL), Azure and CPD. You're a translator who understands business and IT languages. In this support role you won't need to code yourself, but knowledge of these languages is important.Ideally you'll have worked in Application Support and experience of on-boarding applications. You'll have excellent knowledge of the CPD and GIOS policy systems with an opportunity to learn Azure, responding to support tickets and providing technical guidance and practical help to the business.This role will allow you to use all your strengths engaging with the Broker Insurance business and be the face of the team, engaging with a range of stakeholders, translating for various levels of seniority and technical knowledge. You will be a natural problem solver and have a strong desire to 'make it better' through new approaches and techniques. A natural team player: you'll be supportive and collaborative.This is a great time to join the team, as there are a number of exciting opportunities emerging at this time.
