Position Overview:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will support the production of the month end management accounts (CVR pack), from initial journals through to variance analysis, and discussion with budget managers on exceptional items.

The role also supports the re-forecast and the annual budget process.

The role follows a strict timetable which requires a methodical and organised approach to completing tasks. The provision of accurate and timely information to facilitate timely decision making and efficient running of the contracts, as well as driving continuous improvement.

To ensure compliance with BU, Divisional and Group policies and procedures, together with relevant accounting standards, GAAP, statute and best practice.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Prepare all income & cost month-end journals within the prescribed timetable.
  • Run month end purchase order and work in progress report from Maximo and GL reports.
  • Journal validation, update journal register and reconcile with GL Report.
  • Support preparation of month-end flash result and closing numbers for the month.
  • Assist with preparing management accounts and reports for the CVR pack, including trial balance, Balance sheet and regional reports.
  • Complete the Regional Actual v Budget report pack, assisting with commentary on material variances.
  • P&L review meeting with Operation team UK & Europe.
  • Prepare trend reports to assist with determining variances in month.
  • File all journals, final CVR pack, and regional actual v budget reports.
  • Follow-up aged income accruals and cost accruals on the CVR.
  • Assist with cost analysis and all month end accounts queries.
  • Complete all monthly reports (subcontract spend, telephone, headcount, labour and overtime report.
  • Support preparation of the annual Budget and Quarterly re-forecast.
  • Assist with response to mid-year and year-end audit queries.
  • Carry out periodic review of purchase order report, WIP Report and manage closing out of all aged purchase orders, Work orders.
  • Support PPM Cost Schedule preparation at month end.
  • Support Maximo Fixed Fee purchase order raising, support Commercials on quote review, as required.
  • Preparation of payroll month end files and journals.
  • Drive effective monitoring and management of working capital, with timely conversion of WIP & accruals into invoiced debt and trade payables and cash settlement thereafter.
  • Work collaboratively with other finance personnel across the sector and wider CG BU, to ensure consistency of process and approach on all financial matters.
  • Assist with review of financial processes, and provide input into improving processes where necessary.
  • Complete aged debt analysis with target of NIL Debt greater than 90 days.
  • Assist line manager with any other ad hoc duties.

The Person

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Part qualified/Be working towards a professional accountancy qualification, such as CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW

  • Previous experience working in similar Finance/Commercial environment
