We have an exciting opportunity for a UNIX Engineer to join our Unix Support team. As a UNIX Engineer your role will be to support Sky's UNIX Platforms, with a primary focus of the role being the ongoing support and maintenance of our systems. The successful candidate will be performing day-to-day support as part of an extended day shift pattern (Monday - Friday) based in either Livingston or Leeds.

You will:

-Work as part of a team responsible for the BAU support, and project delivery, tasks across a large UNIX estate (RedHat Linux and Solaris).

-Work with our external vendors to resolve Hardware and Operating System issues in a timely manner.

-Undertake routine Patching and Maintenance.

You'll have:

-Prior history of working in a busy production support environment.

-Strong knowledge of both Redhat Enterprise Linux and Solaris.

-Effective troubleshooting skills across all areas (HW, OS, network, storage, system services, etc)

-Good knowledge of Unix Shell Scripting and at least one other programming language.

-Awareness/ Understanding of SSL Certificate Installations/Changes

-Willingness and ability to work in a fast-moving dynamic team-oriented environment.

-Good communication & relationship management skills.

-Experience of working in an environment using ITIL practices, specifically Incident and Change Management.
