Research & Development Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an engineer with a background in Mechanical Design to join a Northampton based engineering company who specialise in LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation), in a role focused on the development of new technology.

The role will involve:
  • Report to the Company Director responsible for new product development
  • Explore new target market opportunities and work with the wider New Product Development team to bring products to market
  • To ensure all new product development opportunities are developed to an agreed plan and timetable
  • To add a marketing perspective to what has been an engineering-lead new product development team
  • To ensure all products that are developed are done in a safe and legal way
  • To bring a planned approach to new product development with structure, reporting and delivery to timetable and budget
  • Assist the new product development process with research into potential suppliers
  • To keep abreast of competitor product offerings and new products taken to market
  • Analyses the results of all new product development activity and present findings and recommendations to Line Manager
  • To work with and manage supplier partners ensuring services employed support the objectives of the new product development
  • To work with the wider sales and marketing team to bring customer insight to the new product development process
  • To carry out extensive research into new products and provide full analysis reports on the performance of the products

Key Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in New Product Development/Marketing or Project Management function
  • Able to delivery project goals
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplined/cross functional teams
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships with internal colleagues and external partners
  • Strong project management skills and ability to drive projects from conception to completion
  • Must be able to work to deadlines

For this, you will receive a starting salary of £35k - £40k + Benefits
