Finance Business Partner - Made to Measure

The Dunelm Commercial Finance team supports decision making across the business every day and as a Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for the costings, budgeting and financial planning for our thriving Made to Measure team.

Over the last 2 years, the Commercial Finance team has made significant inroads to the team's vision of becoming a world class team. Significant investments in People and MI systems have supported this. Month-end and forecasting processes are streamlined, MI is increasingly automated, relationships have been built with stakeholders. The Exec Board is hugely supportive of the team and its contribution, so you would be joining at a really exciting and crucial time!

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical and strategic decision support to the Made to Measure team.

This commercial role will suit a highly analytical finance professional who can turn data into insight and make well-considered recommendations in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. Developing enduring relationships through effective and open communication will allow the candidate to influence decisions and support the profitable growth of the retail business.

Candidates will have an excellent financial grounding and demonstrable commercial awareness. Experience gained in a fast moving retail environment is preferable.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Support the Made to Measure to deliver their financial and operational targets through planning, monitoring, analysing and forecasting
  • Responsibility for developing, implementing and managing a robust stock intake and budgeting model
  • Develop the business stock availability and cover reporting, including quarterly reforecasting
  • Review supplier performance and impact of disservice on sales
  • Analyse and interpret monthly performance, highlighting and understanding issues and opportunities with appropriate recommendations. Provide insight to buying and merchandising senior management on a range of pertinent issues
  • Cost Centre management and month-end review
  • Support the buying and merchandising teams with the preparation of financial appraisals for new initiatives

Skills and experience required:
  • Proven commercial awareness with a strong technical grounding and a process-improvement mind-set
  • You will be self-motivated, resilient and able to demonstrate initiative
  • Highly customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Proven analytical capability and experience of developing insightful MI
  • A strong and self-aware communicator with ability to influence others
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Retail work experience in a fast-paced environment (desirable)
  • ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualified with appropriate PQE including MI and forecasting (desirable)
  • Competent in the use of Finance Systems including SAP, BW and BO (desirable)
