The Role

The Port of Felixstowe is one of the largest deep-water Ports in the UK and to support our continued growth and development we are looking to recruit an Engineering Rigger working with Steel Wire Ropes. The role will be reporting to the Engineering Planner - Rigging Services, with the main purpose of the role to undertake planned maintenance activities, planned replacement and installation of steel wire ropes as part of equipment upgrades, maintenance and commissioning rigging installations. As part of a team of Engineering Riggers the post holder will provide expert knowledge of rigging services for Ship to shore quay cranes, Rubber tyred gantry cranes, Rail mounted gantry cranes and other ancillary equipment that utilise steel wire rope, skills within this role will be expected to diagnose, rectify and repair faults on the cranes wire rope systems and utility equipment mounted on container handling equipment at all three HPUK sites.

Key Requirements

Ensure all maintenance and installation work is carried out effectively and safely.

·Ensure that rigging installations on the Ports' plant and equipment are cost effectively repaired and maintained in a safe manner with minimal operational disruption.

·Work in a cost effective manner to ensure that modification and repairs are completed thoroughly and efficiently.

·Working flexibility to both start and finish times is a requirement on occasion working outside of normal working hours, this includes some weekend working in line with customer expectations.

·Support the team structure and work with the team to achieve set objectives in a timely manner.

Who are we looking for?

Suitable applicants should meet the following criteria:

·Qualified with City and Guilds - Level (III) Mechanical or Rigging Engineering or alternative recognised qualification equivalent to National certificate (ONC) Mechanical or Rigging Engineering.

·Previous working experience on a wide range of Engineering Rigging Services and repairs, including new installation on heavy plant and lifting equipment.

·Knowledge of Engineering Rigging Services on Cranes and Mobile equipment.

·Be physically fit and able to climb and undertake manual handling up to 25Kg; candidates must be able to work safely at height.

·Hold a full DVLA driving licence.

It would be advantageous to have:

·Experience and knowledge of container handling cranes and general or specific rigging systems

This role and will be working on a 40-hour week, pattern structured Monday - Friday.
