Work experience, skills and competencies

Candidates should have strong integration testing experience and a good understanding of the different testing methods and processes. Though Air Traffic Management (ATM) experience is not a necessity, the successful candidate will need to have broad systems test experience, preferably experience within large-scale systems of systems integration programmes. Surveillance and/or networks experience would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, plan, manage and deliver I&V activities on the Programme.
  • Create and manage workload plans, budgets and delivery milestones.
  • Accountable for the I&V Strategy which will include modern tooling and automation.
  • Ensure Test artefacts are consistent and of the right quality.
  • Provide input to the generation of requirement specifications, agreeing requirements are verifiable, complete and have traceability
  • Define test requirements, test plans and design tests to satisfy requirements and safety.
  • Perform testing and integration of multiple technologies. Liaise and co-ordinate with projects, NATS personnel and suppliers to integrate the Programme and artefacts.
  • Document test results and defects, completing Test Reports and managing the completion of a VCRM.
  • Investigate and diagnose problems and propose solutions.
  • Manage change on the Programme and the risks & issues.
  • Lead and support relevant governance reviews and audits.

Skills and Experience:
  • Strong I&V experience
  • Knowledge of the different life cycle development models and methodologies
  • Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional and Integration Testing.
  • Ability to understand existing Test Processes and Plans and identify improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience of creating Test artefacts based on requirements and design documents.
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Experience with virtualised products/services/solutions
  • Familiarity with high-integrity or safety-related real-time systems;
  • Experience with SIEM and Cyber Security
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • ATM knowledge would be advantageous but is not a pre-requisite
  • Strong experience of leading teams of testers
  • Experience of creating and managing project plans
  • Experience of taking ownership and driving delivery of testing projects.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills - ability to work with minimal supervision and direct others to do the same.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information;
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, troubleshooting attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies;
  • DOORS, JIRA and HPQC (ALM) experience or equivalent tools;
