Teacher of English
(12 month fixed term contract)

Salary: MPS/UPS

January 2020

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher to join our English Department in January 2020. We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic and passionate about teaching English. Who will inspire and engage our students, someone who enjoys working with young people, who believes it is a privilege to be a part of their journey into adulthood, and who understands the challenges faced by young people growing up in today's world.

This is an exciting time to join Spen Valley High School as we build upon our many strengths and develop a truly coherent provision for our students. You will work alongside a team of highly professional & dedicated staff who are welcoming, open-minded and supportive. It is a particularly exciting time to join the school as we are undertaking a whole school review of our curriculum to ensure our students will leave us and be able to 'stand shoulder to shoulder' with any other young person, from any other background.

The successful candidate will be at the forefront of this transformational change and we are looking for someone who is creative, dynamic, and willing to embrace this challenge head on.

We pride ourselves in offering a wide range of CPD opportunities to our staff, and encourage involvement in various activities throughout the school.

Spen Valley High School is very proud to be a local comprehensive school with a genuinely inclusive ethos. As part of the Spenborough Cooperative Trust it has strong links with other local schools and good community links. Spen Valley is a successful school, having been judged 'Good' by Ofsted in January 2017. However, we are not complacent and all stakeholders are committed to working together to ensure that we continue to provide our students with a full educational experience that enables them to become successful adults - standing shoulder to shoulder with all others whatever their backgrounds.
